Obituary of Chandra Tikam Matai

Chandra Tikam Matai, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away unexpectedly on February 6th, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

She was born February 15, 1941, in Hyderabad, Pakistan to the late Metharam and Parpati Rangwani.  A beloved sister among ten siblings, Chandra cherished her family bonds and treasured the memories created with her brothers and sisters.

Celebrating a remarkable 60 years of marriage just days before her passing, Chandra and her husband Tikam exemplified the true meaning of lifelong commitment and devotion. The two immigrated from Pakistan in 1973 with their two sons Anil and Ajay, ultimately settling in their forever home in Burlington, MA.

Chandra's role as a grandmother brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She adored spending time and talking with her grandchildren, Sydney, Samantha, and Sia.

For 28 years, Chandra dedicated herself to serving others as a seamstress at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA. Her unwavering dedication brought comfort and solace to countless individuals, illuminating their lives with her kindness and generosity. Anyone who walked through her doors left with a smile.

Chandra was the epitome of selflessness. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She loved to cook and take care of others. She effortlessly made everyone feel loved.

Chandra is survived by her adoring family: her children, Anil Matai and his wife Anita of Charlotte, NC, her son Ajay Matai and his wife Colleen of Burlington, MA; her grandchildren, Sydney, Samantha, and Sia Matai; four siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

In remembrance of Chandra Tikam Matai, let us honor her by embodying the same kindness, love, and compassion that she shared with the world. May her memory be a blessing to us all.

A memorial service to honor Chandra's life will be held at Sullivan's Funeral Home in Burlington, MA from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th, followed by a funeral procession on Friday, February 9th at 9 a.m. beginning at Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home.
