Obituary of Beryl S Nicholas

Beryl Nicholas, 101 of Woburn and formerly of Burlington, a remarkable mother and loving wife, passed away, Tuesday, January 16th at the Sawtelle Hospice house in Reading. She was born in Wolford, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Harvy and Willa (Wharton) Halvorson. She was educated in the North Dakota school system prior to meeting the love of her life William Nicholas Jr. The two were inseparable and moved to Burlington to be closer to William’s family, marriage and family soon followed.

Beryl was a warm and loving mother to her three children and was always happy to let her children be children allowing them to play as long as they were home when the streetlights turned on. She was able to make a warm and loving home for her children and her husband in addition to being dedicated to her job as a data analyst at a local insurance agency. She loved to host dinners that not only filled her dining room but her living room and kitchen as well, any surface was a table for someone to sit at, including the ping pong table. Her endeavors in the kitchen were well received by her family and her experimentation with recipes produced not only remarkable food but some endearing misses as well. Beryl and William loved to travel and she continued to do so after he passed. She enjoyed trips to the Grand Canyon, across Canada via train, Alaska, back to North Dakota to visit family and the family trip to Disney which held a special place in her heart. She was a master jigsaw puzzle solver and a very talented seamstress, she loved to garden and found solace in nature. She enjoyed feeding the wildlife that frequented her garden and enjoyed seeing her green thumb enjoyed by humans and animals alike. Above all else, Beryl loved spending time with her family, her children and grandchildren were the central pillars of her happiness.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Nicholas Jr. as well as her siblings, Loren Halvorson and Iris Quinn. She was the loving mother of Dana Bly and her late husband Gerald of Woburn, Willa Meehan and her husband James of Tewksbury, and William E. Nicholas III of Haverhill, adored grandmother of Tracy Grier and her husband Glen, Kelly Odams, Maureen Weschrek, Rodney Bly and his significant other Joan Fajardo and Ray Bly and his wife Leyla and great grandmother of Jamie Odams and Cadence Odams.
