Thomas S. Ganley, beloved husband of Laurel A. Stevens passed away suddenly on Friday, July 4, 2014. He was 74 years old and a retired manager in the computer industry.

Tom was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the son of the late Thomas and Annah Ganley. He grew up in Lynnfield and was a graduate of St. John's Preparatory High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. He served in the Navy in the early 1960's just as the United States involvement in Vietnam was beginning to escalate. He served from 1962-1965. As a young man, he played ice hockey and was an avid skier.

Tom had a sharp analytical mind. He was educated as a civil engineer, then an electrical engineer and then graduated as an accountant. With the growth of computers he learned how to design printers and computers. He then became a manager overseeing software programmers. He enjoyed success at Prime Computers and Honeywell during those companies prospering early years in computing. He spent his retirement years redeveloping real estate and pursuing other business interests. Tom's main commitment was giving of himself to family, friends, community and church. He had learned from his parents and his experiences in becoming an Eagle Scout that service to community was a priority and involved giving of one's time to one's neighbors. In his retirement years he was a parishioner at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Lynnfield. As a part of the parish, his volunteer time included weekly work at a local soup kitchen and time working with Habitat for Humanity. He also was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross. Tom always wanted to make a contribution to others and enjoyed his relationships with his fellow volunteers.

Tom was the loving husband of 27 years of Laurel A. Stevens of Burlington. They shared a deep enjoyment of a small lake side cabin in rural Maine. He was the loyal brother of Dr. Anne Ganley & her spouse Rev. Marie Fortune of Seattle, WA and of James Ganley of Norcross, GA. He was the uncle of Caroline Luke-Ganley of Alpharetta, GA. Tom was also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Lynnfield on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 2pm.
