Robert A. Gay, age 47, of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Born in Stoneham, MA, on October 8, 1978, he was the son of Margaret Christie and the late Alan Gay Jr.. Robert grew up with the Brown family of Burlington, where he created many cherished memories. He especially enjoyed participating in and watching the Special Olympics and traveling to Florida for trips to Disney and to see the Red Sox during spring training. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling, and loved watching wrestling on TV.
Robert graduated from Burlington High School and began his career at BJ's before joining Market Basket in Billerica, a job he cherished. There, he spent the remainder of his working years as a carriage and stock associate. Robert deeply valued the friendships he built with his Market Basket family and took great pride in his work.
A lifelong Boston sports fan, Robert loved following his favorite teams, particularly the Red Sox. He looked forward to his weekly bingo nights on Wednesdays, where he spent time with dear friends. Robert also treasured time with his cousins, aunts, and uncles, and he held a special bond with his father, Alan Jr., with whom he enjoyed sharing meals and simply being together before his father's passing.
Robert is lovingly survived by his foster sister Jillian Brown, mother, Margaret Christie and husband Martin; his sister Michelle Parrish and her husband Matthew; his brother Toby Gay and partner Karen Graden; his beloved aunt and uncle Cindy and Dennis Brunelle; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Alan Gay Jr., members of the Brown family including Joseph, Winnifred and Lydia and most recently, his foster brother Ricky, whom he adored.
At the request of the family, all services will be held privately.Arrangements are by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington
