Phyllis L. (George) Trabucco, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Burlington on Wednesday, July 29th.  She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert A. Trabucco, with whom she shared over 53 wonderful years of marriage prior to his passing in 2010.

Born in Boston, MA on November 13, 1934, she was the only child of the late Albert and Alice George.  Phyllis was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Roslindale High School with the Class of 1952.  She met the love of her life, Gil, on June 8, 1952, and knew from the moment they met that they would share a beautiful life together.  When Gil left to serve in the military, Phyllis proudly worked as a telephone operator at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, while patiently awaiting his return home.

Phyllis and Gil lived in Roslindale for a few years before moving to Burlington in 1962, where they settled down to raise their family.  Together, they built the kind of marriage and life that most can only dream of.  Wherever they were, they were guaranteed to be enjoying themselves.  Whether spending time with family or wintering in Florida among dear friends, their love was a shining example of partnership, devotion, and joy.  They complemented one another beautifully and created a life together filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering love.

Phyllis was known for her remarkable ability to love and care for everyone around her, especially her family.  She was a devoted mother who took great care to make her children feel cherished and adored.  Her home was always a gathering place for her sons and their friends, who could count on being greeted with fresh lemonade and homemade treats after an afternoon of playing in the yard.  Phyllis was the quintessential neighborhood mom, always looking after not only her own children, but the many neighborhood kids and friends of her sons who found a tremendous amount of comfort and joy in her home.

As a family, they took great care to make countless memories together.  Phyllis and Gil took their children on camping trips across the country and drove to Florida for family vacations at Disney World.  Summers were always spent in Marshfield with Phyllis's parents, where Gil would join them every weekend.  There was never a moment when Phyllis wasn't working to create joyful, lasting memories for the people she loved most.

When her grandchildren arrived, Phyllis's capacity for love somehow grew ten-fold.  She was fortunate enough to live in an in-law apartment with her husband Gil where they got to see the grandchildren grow daily.  From the moment they were born, Brianna and Joseph became the absolute center of her world.  She was the kind of grandmother her grandchildren eagerly looked forward to escaping to when they were in trouble, and she was endlessly proud of every accomplishment, both big and small.  She truly lived for them and earned the affectionate title of "Crazy Nana" through her fun-loving antics, playful spirit, and lighthearted nature.

Phyllis never took herself—or life in general—too seriously.  She had a gift for bringing sunshine wherever she went and became something of a local celebrity among neighbors, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.  Her warmth and genuine spirit made her easy to love, and people of all ages gravitated toward her.  Whether she was nurturing lifelong friendships, checking in on someone who needed encouragement, or making her grandchildren and their friends laugh, Phyllis had a remarkable ability to make every person feel seen, valued, and loved.  Her annual themed birthday celebrations also became famous among her family and friends.  Each year the theme got more elaborate, ranging from Taco parties to “Here Comes the Queen” for her 91st.

At her core, Phyllis was truly a character, and one of a kind.  She was spirited and feisty, yet deeply loving, devoted, and compassionate.  Throughout her life, she formed countless friendships and meaningful connections that endured until the very end.  The number of lives she touched through her generosity, kindness, and sense of humor can never truly be measured.  Those fortunate enough to know Phyllis though, were forever changed by the sincerity of her love and the joy she brought into their lives.

Surviving Phyllis is her adoring son, Daniel Trabucco and his wife Linda of Burlington; her cherished and loving grandchildren, Brianna Trabucco of Burlington and Joseph Trabucco of Burlington, as well as countless other beloved relatives and dear friends.

Phyllis was the devoted mother of the late Gilbert A. Trabucco, who passed in 2004.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, August 3rd from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4th at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ honor may be made to a charity close to your heart.
