Nancy A. (Ciano) Ferrick, 94, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14th, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Michael Ferrick, Jr., with whom she had shared over 66 wonderful years of marriage, prior to his passing in 2020.

Nancy was born in Somerville, one of two daughters of the late Salvatore and Erma (Salipante) Ciano, first-generation Italian immigrants from Gaeta, Italy. raised in a home rich in Italian traditions, Nancy learned from an early age that family was the greatest gift one could have and feeding them well was among her most important duties. Those values remained at the heart of everything she did throughout her long and full life.

She was educated in the Somerville school system and graduated from Somerville High School before earning her certificate from secretarial school. It was through friends that Nancy met the love of her life, Mike, at a dance hosted at Mosley's on the Charles. She was, quite literally and figuratively, swept off her feet by him, and before long they were married and began building the life they would share together.

In 1964, Nancy and Mike settled in Burlington, where they raised their family and became an important part of the community. Together, they enjoyed traveling and were fortunate enough to make wonderful memories with their group of Burlington friends in Aruba, Portugal, Italy, and Bermuda. Each year, they eagerly looked forward to summers on Cape Cod, where they created lasting family traditions and memories that would be treasured for generations. They also enjoyed spending their winters in Melbourne Fl with her sister, Elena and brother-in-law Harry, making those seasons equally special and memorable.

For Nancy, however, there was no greater joy than her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and like a true Italian, she had a special way of expressing her love—through food. Her meatballs and sauce were legendary, as was her Monday night roast. Her grandchildren rarely left her home empty-handed, often being sent home with a container of sauce, eggplant parmesan, or some other homemade favorite. Nancy was particularly proud to teach each of her grandchildren how to make her sauce, meatballs, and eggplant parmesan, ensuring that her recipes—and the love behind them—would live on in the family.

Nancy possessed a quiet competitive spirit that came out whenever she sat down to play cards, scrabble, bingo, or rummikub. She loved music and any opportunity to celebrate, especially family birthdays and anniversaries. In truth, Nancy never needed a special occasion to get dressed up. She took great pride in her appearance, and her hair, lipstick, and nails were always done to perfection. Looking her best was simply part of who she was.

She also treasured shopping trips and lunches with her “girls,” a close-knit group of neighborhood friends she had come to know and love through the years. Their friendship, laughter, and time together brought Nancy great happiness.

Nancy's warmth, generosity, sense of style, competitive spirit, and devotion to her family made her someone who was truly special. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and her home was always a place where there was room for one more at the table. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her loving children, Leslie McCafferty and her husband Kevin of Lexington, Michael Ferrick III, and his wife Cindy of Seabrook, NH, David Ferrick and his wife Joanne of Winchester, John Ferrick and his wife Elizabeth of Dorchester, Stephen Ferrick and his wife Maryjo of Londonderry, NH, and Elaine Gregson and her fiancé Kevin Bartlett of Wakefield; her dear sister, Elena MacDonald and her husband Harry of Woburn; her sister-in-law, Marie Ferrick of Naples, Fl; her 15 cherished grandchildren, 20 adoring great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends in Burlington and the community at Stonebridge.

She was the loving sister-in-law of the late Robert Ferrick and his late wife Ellen, and David Ferrick.
