Obituary

Michael P. Brouillette, 61, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side after a courageous and determined three-year battle with a very rare form of bladder cancer. Throughout his illness, Michael faced every challenge with remarkable strength, unwavering optimism and the same quiet determination that defined the way he lived his life.

Born in Boston on March 19, 1965, Michael was one of three children born to Jeannette(Picard) Brouillette and the late Philip Brouillette. Raised on Sarah Street in Burlington, he enjoyed a childhood filled with laughter, adventure and lifelong friendships. Along with several neighborhood friends, Michael was a proud member of a close-knit group they affectionately called "The Schooners." Whether they were playing endless games of street hockey, baseball, football, or riding their bikes across Burlington looking for another neighborhood to challenge to a game, those carefree days created friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.

Michael developed a lifelong passion for hockey at an early age, playing on several teams throughout his youth. It was a bright day when his two daughters asked to play ice hockey. In their earlier days of playing the game, Michael could be seen on the ice and bench coaching their teams. For several winters, Michael built a large backyard rink so that he could enjoy extra time on the ice with his girls. As they continued to play in both high school and college, hardly a game was missed. He could be seen standing at one end of the rink quietly cheering on his favorite players. A devoted fan of the game, he remained an enthusiastic supporter of the Boston Bruins and all Boston sports throughout his life.

A 1983 graduate of Burlington High School, Michael continued his education at Merrimack College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1988. His education paved the way for an accomplished career in sales. Beginning as a customer service representative, Michael steadily advanced through telemarketing and outside sales before becoming a supervisor, manager and ultimately a National Sales Manager. When an unexpected layoff came at the age of 50, Michael viewed it not as a setback, but as an opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream of being a business owner. With guidance from his close friend, Kevin Meehan, he founded Emergency Station Assessment Services, transforming years of experience, hard work and determination into a thriving and successful business.

Michael met the love of his life, Cindy, while the two were working together at Service Merchandise in Burlington. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong romance, and they were married in 1989. The following year they made their home in Burlington, where they built a life centered on love, family and unwavering support for one another. Together they were blessed with two wonderful daughters, who became Michael's greatest source of pride. Watching his daughters graduate from college, marry and begin families of their own were among the happiest moments of his life. While he cherished being a husband and father, nothing compared to becoming "Grampa," a title he wore with immeasurable pride and joy. A day never went by without an update on what the little ones were doing, as he genuinely loved seeing them reach new milestones. His grandchildren brought out his playful spirit and filled his heart in a way only they could. Every moment spent with them became a treasured memory, and there was nowhere Michael would rather be than surrounded by his family.

Michael and Cindy shared a love of travel and adventure that created countless cherished memories together. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with adream trip to Hawaii, enjoyed exciting vacations to Las Vegas, explored the breathtaking beauty of Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon, and embarked on an unforgettable road trip along the East Coast. Closer to home, some of their happiest times were spent camping with family at Nickerson State Park, where days were filled with campfires, laughter and the simple pleasures of being together. Whenever life slowed down, Michael could be seen with a golf club. As an avid golfer, he thrived on improving his game by watching instructional videos, swinging an imaginary club or practicing at the driving range. He enjoyed decades of playing the game with his friends, in-laws and wife. Whether swinging a club on a quiet morning or cheering on the Bruins from his favorite chair, Michael appreciated life's simple joys, especially when they were shared with those he loved.

Michael’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Matthew Clements and Dr. Brendan Connell of Lahey Burlington. Dr. Bradley McGregor, PA Pauline Ngo, RN Claire Leisner, RN Sheila Enderby and Dr. Kelly Sanders at Dana Farber Boston and the Staff at Brookhaven Hospice.

He is predeceased by his father, Philip Brouillette, a nephew, Mark Brouillette, a sister-in-law, Celia (Cornish) Dancewicz as well as several aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cindy Brouillette; his loving daughters, Ashley Rosenberg and her husband Jake of Burlington, and Holly McGovern and her husband Tom of Marlborough; his cherished grandchildren, Eleanor and Vivian Rosenberg and Shelby McGovern; his mother, Jeannette (Picard) Brouillette of Burlington; his siblings; Connie Turcotte and her husband Bob of Laconia, NH., and Steve Brouillette and his wife Betsy of Billerica, His sister in law, Cathy (Cornish) Goggin and her husband John of Wilmington as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends, including the lifelong friends of "The Schooners".
