Obituary

Mary (Fantasia) Nuovo, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Burlington. She was the loving wife of the late Robert M. Nuovo, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 1994.

Born in Gaeta, Italy, on May 23, 1931, she was a beloved daughter of the late Domenic and Gilda (Bartalamia) Fantasia. Mary immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of two and was raised in Somerville. She graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1949. Following her high school education, Mary went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Robert, and the two were married in 1954. Together they made their home in Lexington, where they raised their family and built a life filled with love and devotion.

Mary was a gifted and accomplished artist whose talent, patience, and creativity were evident in every piece she created. Her award-winning paintings were exhibited throughout the area, including at shows in Woburn and the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society. She was an active member of both the Woburn Guild of Artists and the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, where she found great joy in sharing her passion for art with others. Mary treasured the process of creating, carefully bringing each work to life with remarkable skill and attention to detail.

Above all, Mary was devoted to her family. As a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she was endlessly generous with her time, love, and support. She possessed a strong work ethic and a determined spirit, yet never hesitated to place the needs of those she loved before her own. Mary found her greatest happiness in caring for others, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Surviving Mary is her loving son, Robert Nuovo and his fiancée Angie Lee Cobbs of Brooklyn, NY; her dear son-in-law Paul Ferraguto and his wife Kathy of Woburn; her cherished grandchildren, Mark Ferraguto and his wife Lisa of PA, Michael Ferraguto and his wife Meg of Ohio, and Stefania Nuovo of Brooklyn, NY, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, August 31st from 11 am until 12:30 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 12:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow in Westview Cemetery, Lexington. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s honor may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Association.
