Obituary

Louise Jennette Courtney, age 98, passed away peacefully on June 11,2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Louise was born on December 30th, 1927, in Somerville, Massachusetts; she was the daughter of John and Louise Carbone. She grew up in Somerville and later made her home in Burlington, Massachusetts for 59 years, where she raised her family and built lasting friendships that spanned decades.

She was the beloved wife of Eugene, a Massachusetts MDC police officer, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage until his passing. Together they built a life centered on faith, friendship, and service to others.

Above all else, she was devoted to her family. She took great pride in her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her kindness, resilience, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Louise enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending St. Malachy Church and keeping a spotless home. Her home was the gathering place for friends, she loved playing cards with her circle of close friends, serving lunches and dinners. You never left her home hungry.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Carbone, Husband, Eugene Courtney, sister, Eleanor Staples and her brother Robert (Bobby) Carbone.

Louise is survived by her son, John Courtney (wife) Pattie, Her grandchildren, Brock Courtney (Danielle), Ryan Courtney (Cindy), Antony Cousins (Natalia), Jennifer Shugarts (Steven), Chase Courtney, Kelley Allen (Marque), Great Grandchildren Landon, Paxton, Sloane, Shaw, Diana, Lea, JW, Haley, Katie, Ben, Austin, Great- Great Grandchild, Araya. Neice Geraldine Carbone. And many cherished friends.

A private burial will take place in Massachusetts, where she will be laid to rest beside loved ones at the family cemetery plot. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life at a later date.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the hospice caregivers and medical professionals who provided comfort and support during her final days at home. We would also like to express a heartfelt thanks to Theresa Barnett for all the love and care that she selflessly gave to Louise.

Her family will remember her not only for the long life she lived so selflessly, but for the love, wisdom, and strength she shared throughout it.
