Lorraine Cooney, 79, of East Boston and formerly of Chelsea, passed away peacefully on June 22, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in East Boston, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Love) Sarro and one of six children. She was proud of her East Boston roots and often spoke fondly of the close-knit neighborhood where she grew up in a family-filled triple-decker home surrounded by relatives, love, and lifelong memories.
Lorraine was one of a kind. She was loved for her honesty, unforgettable sense of humor, and spirited personality.
She shared a treasured lifelong friendship with Patricia "Patti" Petrizzi. Together, they created decades of laughter, adventures, and memories built on loyalty and friendship.
Lorraine also found great joy in playing bingo and was an exceptional cook. She especially loved Christmas and always made sure to make it special. Nothing brought Lorraine greater happiness than her family, especially her grandchildren. She adored each of them and lovingly cared for them throughout their childhood years.
Lorraine was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth (Bunny) Sarro and Charlotte Sarro.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim-Marie Corliss and her husband Scott of Greenville, NH, Jeannine Russell and her partner Danny Day of Lynn, Sheri Viglione and her husband Gerry of Burlington; her grandchildren, Ryan Corliss and his wife Taylor, Kelsey Corliss and her partner Eric Stack, Alexander Corliss, Makenna Russell and her partner Chris Canwell, and Viviana Viglione; her brothers, Frank Sarro Jr. and his wife Arlene of Florida, Robert Sarro and his wife Ann Marie of Saugus, and Mark Sarro of Florida, and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Saturday, June 27" from 10am to 11am at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Her funeral home service will follow in the funeral home at 11am. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
