Of Billerica, 72 died peacefully at Care Dimensions in Lincoln on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Kathy was born on February 12, 1951 in San Francisco, CA and raised in Melrose, MA. Daughter of the late Inza Jaques Thurlow Lyon and the late Murray Galloway Lyon, A very loving and devoted grandmother and primary caretaker to Lucas Alessi who was the most important person in her life. Mother to the late Marta Rodrigues Alessi, family member to the late Peter Childs, Deborah Childs of Billerica, Tim Childs of Brooklyn, Daniel Childs of Billerica, and Amanda Alessi of Melrose. Kathy earned her BA from UMass Amherst in Social Work and an MA from Northeastern University in Speech and Language Pathology. Kathy worked in a variety of places before working at St. Ann's Home and School in Methuen, MA for 28 years. Kathy was raised by strong and independent women; her grandmother Helen and mother Inza (who served in WWII in France) which Kathy was very proud. An avid reader, animal lover and a seriously devoted fan of the Boston Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. Kathy was a giving person who did not call attention to all the wonderful things she did for people. She was kind, big hearted, tough, disciplined, loyal, dedicated, a loving teacher/advocate for her students even cheering them on during games. Kathy will be missed forever!
