Obituary

Joyce (Bevis) Williams, 75, of Burlington, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Born in Somerville to the late Walter and Eleanor (Phillips) Bevis, Joyce was one of four children and a longtime Burlington resident. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant.

Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest gift was her golden heart. She loved her family fiercely and made time for the people she loved, creating cherished memories through family holidays, beach trips, visits to Boston and Nubble Lighthouse, games, cooking, and countless home videos.

At five years old, Joyce contracted polio and later became wheelchair-bound, but she never allowed it to define her. She faced life's hardships with incredible strength, courage, and resilience. Her experiences made her determined to protect and care for the children and family she loved, always putting others before herself.

Joyce's compassion extended beyond her family. Throughout her life, she formed meaningful friendships and welcomed others into her heart, including Ed McMahon, who helped care for her, Ricky who brought Kayla over to play board games, and Tristan's partner Sam Morris. She was grateful for the love and kindness they shared with her.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Karen Witkus, Walter Ronald Bevis and Laura Berlandi. She leaves behind her children, and survives within the depths of her children's hearts Marcie Bujnowski- Williams, and Ronald Williams. Her grandchildren (Marcie's children) Kayla Williams, Triston Williams, and Adam Bujnowski. (Ronald's children) Jason, Kaitlyn, and Brianna. Her bird Arma. Great grandchildren, (Acelynn, and Kevin) As well as several nieces and nephews.

Words can never fully express how deeply Joyce was loved or how much she meant to those who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, generosity, and the beautiful soul she shared with everyone around her. Her love lives on in the memories she created and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 11 AM in Pine Haven Cemetery, 84 Bedford St., Burlington . Arrangements are by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington.
