Obituary

John F. Leahy, 71, of Las Vegas, formerly of Burlington Ma, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday morning August 30, 2026. He was born in Shreveport, LA, the only son of the late John B and Margie (Mobley) Leahy. His father’s Air Force career required the family to live across the US and Asia, eventually settling in Newcastle, NH and graduating from Portsmouth, New Hampshire High School in 1973.

John moved to Boston to attend photography school. In 1978 he applied for a clerk position at Martignetti Liquors, Soldiers Field Rd Brighton. He stayed with Martignetti companies for 39 years, working his way to General Manager, only leaving when Martignetti closed their retail division in April 2017.

In 1980, John met his wife, Janet. They originally settled in her hometown of Watertown, eventually moving to Burlington in 1996 where they raised their son John.

In 2021, seeking a milder climate they moved to Las Vegas Nevada

While living in Burlington, John enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He was a fan of all New England Sports, especially the Patriots and Celtics. He was well known at family gatherings for his quick and dry Irish wit

John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Janet (Woods) Leahy and son John B Leahy, both of Las Vegas, sisters Mary E Leahy, Ann Marie Leahy and Marge Pingel, and many sisters-in-law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Charlene Petlick and Sherrliyn Hatch.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation Saturday September 12 from 1230pm to 230pm at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St Burlington
