James "Jim" Killilea, age 82, passed away peacefully at Lahey Hospital on Friday, September 4, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Patricia "Pat" (Gallo) Killilea, with whom he shared over 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Boston on August 16, 1944, Jim was one of six children of the late David J. and Helen (Balukonis) Killilea. He graduated from Somerville High School and went on to earn his accounting degree from Bentley College. During his studies, he began working for Cambridge Lee Industries as a copper tubing salesperson, a career he would proudly devote himself to until his retirement.

Jim met the love of his life, Pat, when they were just teenagers, and the two quickly fell in love and were married on May 11, 1968.

As a father, Jim was truly second to none. He was a constant source of love, encouragement, and unwavering support in the lives of his sons. Whether coaching their Little League teams, playing a spirited game of backyard baseball after a long day at work, or simply being present for life's important moments, Jim always made his family his highest priority. As his children grew older and started families of their own, he embraced his role as a grandfather with the same devotion, taking great joy in attending games, celebrating milestones, and watching his grandchildren grow.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed being actively involved in the Burlington community and proudly served on the town's Baseball Board. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed countless rounds with friends and was a longtime member of a golf league in New Hampshire. Jim also took tremendous pride in his home, particularly his yard and landscaping, which he maintained with meticulous care and dedication.

Jim and Pat especially cherished the annual work trips they took together, traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Later, as their family grew, those adventures evolved into treasured family vacations to Disney World, Florida, Cape Cod and Maine, creating memories that would be cherished for generations.

At his core, Jim was kind, caring, and generous. He gave freely of his time to his family, friends, and anyone in need. A man of quiet strength and deep integrity, he carried himself with humility and pride. Though he was never one to seek the spotlight or speak at great length, people listened when he did. His wisdom, steady presence, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be remembered always.

Jim was the devoted father of the late Mark Killilea, who passed in 1991. He was also the loving brother of the late Robert Killilea, Barbara Whalen, Frances Moore, and Richard Killilea.

Along with his loving wife, Pat, Jim is survived by his two adoring sons, Michael Killilea and his wife Pam of Medford, and Matthew Killilea and his wife Noel of Billerica; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Killilea, Jr. and his wife Danielle, Tyler Killilea, Mark Killilea, and Alexandra Killilea; his dear great-grandson Coleman Killilea; his beloved brother, Thomas Killilea of Burlington, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

At the request of the family, all services will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s honor may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or The Jimmy Fund.
