Helen Louise (Teas) MacKinnon, age 87, peacefully passed away in her home in Burlington on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with her adoring family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph E. MacKinnon, with whom she shared over 54 wonderful years of marriage prior to his passing in 2012.
Born in Boston, MA, on March 25, 1939, Helen was one of five children of the late Cecil and Mary (Craffey) Teas. She graduated from St. Columbkille Catholic School in Brighton, MA. Helen met the love of her life, Ed, at the bowling alley where he was working at the time, and it wasn't long before the two were married.
In 1962, they purchased their family home in Burlington, MA, where they raised their three children in a space filled with love, unwavering support, and a deep-rooted appreciation for family. Helen supported her children at home while they were growing up. During those years, she taught ice skating, played, and coached softball alongside her beloved lifelong friends here in town. Later in life she worked at Nordbloom for 15 years in the accounting department, where she met some of her dearest friends.
Helen was a devoted communicant of St. Malachy's Church, where she remained a faithful parishioner throughout her life. Helen will forever be remembered as a loving, lively, and faithful matriarch. She dedicated countless hours to her church and community, bringing the Eucharist to those who were unable to attend Mass, helping at church functions, and volunteering at the food pantry. Helen’s unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, and her community leaves behind a beautiful legacy that will continue to live on in all those who loved her.
Helen was the adoring mother of the late Ed MacKinnon, and sister of the late Ronald Teas, Richard Teas, and Gerald Teas.
Surviving Helen is her brother Ed Teas of North Carolina and her loving children, Stephen MacKinnon and his wife Karen of Haverhill, Catherine Moore and her husband Michael of E. Kingston, NH, and late Ed MacKinnon’s wife, Lorie MacKinnon of Old Orchard Beach, ME; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Moore and his wife Krista, Jamie Thornell and her husband Patrick, Samatha Simard and her husband Dan, Grace Moore, Katherine Corcione and her husband Nicholas, Gregory MacKinnon and his wife Emily, Alexandra MacKinnon, Cassandra Jalbert and her husband Jacques; her dear great-grandchildren, Aurora, Autumn, Adam, Sadie, Elijah, Jane, Leo, Josephina, Ezekiel, Lionel, and Cecilia Helen, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends of Helen are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, November 3rd, from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 10 am at St. Malachy’s Church, Burlington. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
