George
Queen
August 24, 1951 – May 13, 2026
George was born to William and Josephine Queen of Burlington on August 24, 1951 and was the youngest of nine children. He was raised in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1969. He went on to the Northeast Technical Institute in Boston, MA having graduated in 1975. After getting married he moved back to Harriett Ave in Burlington where he would live for the next almost 50 years.
He was always a proud, hardworking man. Initially, he worked for Northern Air and then opened his own company, Burlington Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in 1985. He remained self employed and ran a successful business until just a few years ago when he decided to retire. He was always very generous with his work, his time, his knowledge and his love. He was the go to person in the family for advice about how to fix just about anything. He was a Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus which he joined in 1986. He loved his beautiful cars …his brilliant 1973 medium metallic blue mint corvette, his beautiful antique tropical tourquiose 1957 Chevy that he completely rebuilt from a frame over 30 years ago and which he has kept in mint condition. He loved to partipate and to go to Classic car shows all around New England and to be part of the car clubs, most recently the Strokers Hot Rod club. In 1994, He was thrilled to win the Super Chevy Street Machine award. He was so happy to have been part of the pit crew at New England Dragway/NHRA in Epping, NH as often as possible .
He was a gentle, caring man. He was as cool as they come with a great sense of humor. So handsome with his thick, perfect hair and beard.
He was quiet, but always observing and absorbing what was going on around and with you, his family, his friends and even old acquaintances . He was smart as a whip, he kept on top of everything. He would recall everything about what was going on in your life. He loved to sit and talk over a cup of coffee with his special coffee cup. He researched the family genealogy but most he already knew from memory.
He helped organize and promote the annual "Queen Christmas Party" and has already made sure that the upcoming year is all planned. He always attended gatherings for birthdays, weddings and cookouts and was always so happy to see everyone. During a hiatus in his cancer treatment in November 2024 he hit the road solo to visit his lifelong friend, Rich Flaherty, in North Carolina , and, Deryl Brown, in Florida to make sure to see them one more time. A true testament to his loyalty, big heart and friendship.
He was a great cook -cooking his favorite recipes, spaghetti with meatballs and his famous corn chowder. His favorite dish was taking his sweetheart Ann out for a ride and for dinner to China Blossom, Bickfords, Gloucester for fried seafood or wherever their hearts desired on a given Friday night. He could always eat Chicken parmigiana from the Chateau or a great filet no matter the day or occasion. He enjoyed traveling to Canada and Bermuda.
He stayed on top of everything and what was happening politically -nationally and locally -standing up for what he believed in.
He loved family, he brought others into his family without hesitation, only love. Always doing what he could to help. He loved to see people succeed, grow and overcome life's battles.
He was saddened to be the sole survivor of his 8 brothers and sisters (Mary Essigmann, William, Joseph, Richard, Joyce and Donna Queen, Dorothy LaTulippe and Anne Patterson) and his parents, who he can now rejoice with as they are all together again.
He loved his friends who were like family to him. He had many lifelong friends for whom kept in close contact until his last days.
He loved his family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was especially close to his sister in-law, Melissa Capelo. He was so proud and dedicated his life and love of course to his children George Jr. and his wife Meghan Queen, Julie Queen and Joseph Queen, his grandchildren, Mia Caldwell, Julianna and Aria Fowler, Tessa, Lucas, Evelyn and Kennedy Queen, and especially his wife, Ann, who he was devoted to for 54 years and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in November of this year. He will be missed tremendously by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, May 18 from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home. George's Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 10 am in the Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in George's honor may be made to Blues for Veterans , PO Box 6, Woburn, MA 01801.
