Obituary

George A. Davis, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31st, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Melrose, Massachusetts on August 8, 1950, he was one of two sons of the late George M. and Phyllis M. (Dow) Davis and was the beloved stepson of Nancy E. (Murray) Davis. George’s childhood was filled with cherished memories of baseball, family gatherings, and the close bonds that would remain important to him throughout his life. When Phyllis passed, George M. married Nancy, moved to Burlington and welcomed four more children into their lives. George graduated with the Burlington High School Class of 1969.

From a young age, George had a deep passion for music, especially the guitar. Determined to master the instrument, he taught himself to play and developed an impressive talent not only on guitar but later on bass guitar as well. Throughout high school and for many years afterward, he played with numerous bands, performing wherever there was an opportunity—whether on a stage, at a local venue, or in a friend's garage.

Music was far more than a hobby for George; it was something he loved to share with others. He enthusiastically taught his sons, their friends, and anyone eager to learn about music. Whether he was explaining how to read sheet music, demonstrating a chord progression, or helping a beginner find confidence with a guitar, George found great joy in passing along his knowledge. His patience, encouragement, and genuine love for music inspired many and left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to learn from him.

George's love for helping others extended beyond music though. For many years, he worked at a group home where he developed meaningful relationships with the residents in his care. He genuinely loved the people he worked with and took great pride in helping them enjoy life to the fullest. Whether he was cooking meals, playing guitar, playing games, or simply spending time with them, George brought joy and laughter wherever he went. The residents adored him, and he cared deeply for each of them in return.

Above all else, George was a devoted father who was always present, supportive, and deeply involved in his children's lives. He coached Little League baseball, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines, offer encouragement, or share a life lesson. He loved teaching his sons not only about music and guitar but also about perseverance, compassion, and how to navigate life's challenges with humor and grace.

George possessed an incredible sense of humor and a spark that was impossible to ignore. To know him was to love him, and many felt as though they had known him for years within moments of meeting him. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and at ease. Gregarious, kind, generous, and endlessly funny, George had an electric personality that could light up any room. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his presence one that drew people together. He leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of love that will continue to bring laughter and comfort for years to come.

Along with his beloved step-mother, George is survived by his two loving sons, Jess Davis and his partner Julie Smith of Woburn, and Colin Davis and his wife Laura of Bourne; his cherished grandchildren, Callie and Ashton Davis of Bourne; his adoring brother, Richard Davis and his wife Jeanne of Littleton, his stepsiblings, whom he viewed as brothers and sisters, Ross Davis and his wife Jacqueline of Burlington, Alysa Johnson and her husband Don of Woburn, Pamela Meehan and her husband Michael of Burlington, and his brother-in-law Thomas McNulty of Hudson, NH; his devoted partner of 15 years, Roberta “Bobbi” (Turco) Stavros, as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.

George was the dear brother of the late Carla McNulty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, June 7th from 11 am until 2 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 2 pm. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in George’s honor may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Association
