George M. Bell, of Boston, passed away Sunday, November 12, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington.

He was born in Boston to Elizabeth Moore and Linton Bell, George was raised by his mother and stepfather Ed Hawkes in Marblehead and Hamilton. He attended Franconia College in New Hampshire, but left to explore Europe. After returning to Boston he became a carpenter and developed the skill to eventually focus on small custom projects. Other pursuits included working on an oil rig and in later years working at a farm animal sanctuary. George loved animals and carried peanuts in his pockets to feed his squirrels. He also loved coffee, films, history, music, the ocean, and a good laugh.

He leaves three sons, Matthew, Joshua, and Sergei, a grandson Seamus and a granddaughter Fiona, and his sister Dorsett and brother Ted.

At the request of his family, all funeral services will be private.
