Freda M. (LeBlanc) Stanton, age 94, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John Stanton, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Freda was proud to have remained living independently in Burlington until the time of her passing.

Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Leona (Cormier) LeBlanc. Freda immigrated to the United States with her family and settled in Waltham. At a young age, she began working for the Mitre Corporation before later continuing her career with Raytheon.

Following her time at Raytheon, Freda became a waitress at the Chateau Restaurant, a job she truly enjoyed. It was there that she met her future husband, John. After dating for several years, the couple married in 1957 and went on to raise five sons together. They eventually settled in Burlington, where they found a home large enough to accommodate their growing family.

Throughout her life, Freda formed many lasting friendships through her work and the activities she enjoyed. While working at Kitty's Restaurant, she became a familiar and friendly face to countless regulars, many of whom became lifelong friends. She also cherished the close bonds she shared with her devoted bingo partners. Through her years at Kitty's, Freda exemplified the value of hard work, dedication, and always showing up and giving your best. These lessons were especially evident when her five sons began working alongside her. She took great pride in teaching them the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and a strong work ethic—values that remained with them throughout their lives.

An adventurous spirit, Freda loved to travel. She enjoyed making trips north to Canada to visit relatives and take in the beautiful sights of her homeland. She and John also shared a passion for seeing the world together, traveling throughout Europe on many memorable occasions. They especially enjoyed taking luxury cruises to the Caribbean, creating countless treasured memories during their years together.

Freda also cherished the home she and John had in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where some of her happiest memories were made with her grandchildren. She loved opening her home to them and hosting family gatherings filled with the simple joys of summertime. Together, they enjoyed days at the beach, rides at the amusement park, playing games, and, most of all, the raucous laughter that seemed to fill the house. For Freda, having her grandchildren together under one roof was something truly special, and those carefree summers created memories that her family will carry with them forever.

Surviving Freda are her five loving sons, David Stanton and his wife Joni, Daniel Stanton and his wife Cheryl, Robert Stnaton and his wife Rebecca, John Stanton Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Thomas and his wife Paula, grandchildren, Patrick, Laura, David Jr., Branden, James, Meredith, Erin, Jack, Molly, Katie, and Julia, great grandchildren, Owen, Emma, Evan and Rory, Siblings, Emery and Margie. She was predeceased by her husband John, parents Alfred and Leona, and a brother Raymond.

At her request all funeral services are private and at her family’s convenience. Arrangements are by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home.
