Donald “Jumpy” Boggs of Cape Carteret, NC passed away on August 5, 2026 at 95 years old, surrounded by his family. Donald spent most of his life in Massachusetts, but since retiring, had lived for many years in Hawaii, California, Florida and most recently moved to North Carolina to be near two of his three daughters. Donald liked nothing better than playing in any men's slow pitch softball league that he could find until he aged out of most of them, cheering on the Carolina Panthers and the New England Patriots and his nightly glass of Jack Daniels. Until recently he could be found every Wednesday night at the local VFW enjoying chicken wings and beer with friends. He was also a long time member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus and refereed Burlington Youth Basketball .

Donald served in the United States Air Force for a short time but spent most of his career working with computers for companies like Kemper Insurance and Digital Equipment Corporation and then later as an independent consultant. He could build or fix almost anything, was always there to help a neighbor in need, and spent his later years interrogating his son in law about projects he was working on. He loved animals and insisted on having his own stash of treats for them. He recently lost his beloved dog Lana, who never left his side.

Donald was affectionally known as “Jumpy” by his grandchildren who couldn’t pronounce his chosen name of “Grumpy”. He is survived by his children, Donna Boggs of Morehead City, NC, Linda Phillips of North Reading, MA, Beverly Logan and her husband Michael Logan of Cape Carteret, NC, his grandchildren, Theresa Goulet and her husband William of Stoneham, MA, John Phillips and his fiancé Kathleen Mikulski of Peabody, MA, Jaime Logan of Belmont, NC, Matthew Logan and his fiancé, Payton Corey of New Port Richey, FL, his great granddaughter Charlotte Goulet of Stoneham, MA and his sister Barbara Dalrymple of Scituate, MA. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Gertrude (Babbin) Boggs and Clifford Boggs, his wife, Ellen Boggs, his brother William D. Boggs, his son in law, James Phillips and his grandson, Kevin Blanchard.

The family would like to thank all of his friends who visited, called, or reached out and made him smile during his recent illness. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
