Charles Shirley Smith of Burlington, Massachusetts left this earth on July 12, 2024.
Charles was raised in Lexington, Massachusetts and lived on Bowker Street with his parents Shirley L. and Rheta G. Smith and was loving brother to June Smith McKenna. Charles attended High School in Lexington and served in the Navy aboard SS San Marcos before becoming a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 17. He was a proud member of the VFW Prince Palace in Melrose, MA.
Charles was always the life of the party, enjoyed dancing and music. He spent his winters in Florida and Arizona with his good friends Bob Walsh and Charlie Anderson. He was a hard worker who rarely took a day off of work and was able to retire at age 60. His spirit will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Shirley & Rheta, his sister June, his uncle Bert Miller and aunt Bertha Miller and is survived by his children, Robin Remsen and her husband Albert, Susan Eska and her husband Paul and Eric Smith, grandchildren Carly Eden, Abbie Eska and Luke Eska. Also survived by former wife Roberta Johnson and devoted friend Cindy Maniscalco.
Memorial Visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. Burial will be private.
