Anne B. (Laundry) Murphy, 89, of Sharon, and a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13.

Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late John H. and Anna C. (Reilly) Laundry. Anne was raised in Medford and educated in the Medford School System before graduating from Medford High School. Following high school, she began her career as an office administrator with John Hancock. She later worked for Woodcraft and Johnson Roses before becoming the bookkeeper for her husband, Bill, who owned and operated a Napa Auto Parts store in Chelmsford for many years.

While Anne was a dedicated and hardworking woman, her greatest accomplishment was the warm and loving home she created for her husband and children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose family was always at the center of her life. Anne was very involved in her children’s activities, teaching CCD, being a scout leader, and attending many of their sporting events, including hockey, baseball and baton; which she enjoyed immensely!

Anne and Bill also shared a wonderful life together filled with travel and adventure. Over the years, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Boothbay Harbor, Sedona, and Mount Rushmore as well as spending many memorable winter trips to Naples, Florida. They especially enjoyed relaxing summers aboard their 36-footboat with family and friends. Both Anne and Bill took the boating course, and Anne would often joke with a smile that she had scored higher on her boating test than Bill!

The couple also shared a love of the theater, whether attending performances at the North Shore Music Theatre or traveling into Boston to enjoy a show. Anne had a special love for animals, and her home was blessed throughout the years by the companionship of many beloved dogs and cats.

Anne was a wonderful and supportive mother and grandmother, but perhaps nothing brought her greater joy than becoming a great grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with the younger generations of her family and loved watching them grow. Her love, encouragement, and genuine interest in their lives created a special bond that will remain with them always.

In her later years, Anne moved to Care One in Sharon, where she embraced her new surroundings and found great enjoyment in the community around her. She particularly enjoyed playing bingo, singing with the chorus, painting, and even chair tap dancing! Anne had a wonderful ability to open herself to others, and she enjoyed socializing and making connections with anyone she encountered. Her warmth and friendly spirit allowed her to bring happiness to those around her wherever she was.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband, William “Bill” Murphy; son, Thomas Murphy; brother, Ralph Laundrydaughter-in-law, Lisa Murphy; and brother-in-law, Bart Newman.

She is survived by her loving children, Carol Foos and her husband Robert of Mansfield, MA, William Murphy Jr. of Woburn, MA, David Murphy of Plymouth, MA, and daughter-in-law Stacey Murphy of Andover, sibling, Barbara Newman of Reading, MA and sister-in-law Georgia Laundry of Billerica, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Michael Foos and his wife Monica, Kathryn Stadnick and her husband Shawn, and Joseph Murphy, great grandchildren, Madison Foos, Mia Foos, Ava Stadnick and Mason Stadnick, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, August 19, from 10AM to 11:30AM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 280 Main St, Woburn, Burial will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
