Obituary

Allan T. "Wingnut" Howe, 66, a lifelong resident of Billerica, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Tuesday, September 19, at Bear Mountain Rehabilitation in Reading.



He was born in Woburn on December 4, 1956 the son of the late Allan R. and Louis (Montgomery) Howe.


Allan worked in the trucking industry as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed meeting and visiting with fellow truck drivers and friends at truck stops, shipyards and just about anywhere. He was the type of driver who would go above and beyond and was always up for the most complicated of tasks. Allan worked for several companies including, Roy Brothers out of Billerica; West Motor Freight of Pennsylvania; and most recently at JB Hunt out of Lancaster. He has accomplished several awards for safety driving and for years of dedication. Most recently he accomplished One Million Miles of Safety Driving and was honored by JB Hunt. In his younger years, Allan enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. He looked forward to his hunting trips with his father every November.


He is survived by his wife, Judy (Dunn) Howe and his daughter Emily Howe, siblings, Sharon Fitzgerald and her husband Thomas of Billerica, Denis Howe and his wife Kathy Page of North Carolina, Heather Shaffer and her husband Fred of New Hampshire, and Lori Boudin and her husband Ken of Maine, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and fellow drivers.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Howe. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visiting hours on Sunday, October 1st, 1 -3pm at the Edward. V. Sullivan Funeral Home. 43 Winn St. Burlington. His memorial service will take place shortly after the visitation at 3pm.
