Victor “Vic” Allen, a retired Raytheon employee, passed away after a long illness on Sunday morning. August 7, 2016, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 87 years old. Vic was born in Arlington, the son of the late Lester and Elizabeth Allen. He grew up in Arlington and was a graduate of Newman School in Boston. He enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 21 and served for 4 years during the Korean War. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and 2 Bronze Service Stars. Vic’s first job was as a mechanic for Middlesex Bus Company. It was there that he met and fell in love with Lorraine LeBlanc, who was the president’s secretary at the bus company. They were married in the original St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington, which was located at the corner of Winn St. and Center Street, 59 years ago. He has made Burlington his home ever since, raising his 2 sons and daughter. Vic worked as an engineer in the Missile Systems Division at Raytheon for 38 years. He had worked at a number of facilities including Wayland and Sudbury.

When Vic was off in the military, his Dad and his brothers built a cottage on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. It became a very special gathering place for the Allen family. Summers were spent on the water. As his children got older, Vic and his wife Lorraine, purchased a waterfront home in Gilford, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. They have enjoyed the past 18 years on the “Big Lake”. They enjoyed swimming, boating, and enjoying time spent as a family. The other special place was his wife’s Lorraine’s parents farm in Franklin, New Hampshire. It was the gathering place for the LeBlanc side of the family. Vic along with many other family members worked on the farm during the busy seasons. It was a family effort and a labor of love for all the family. Along with the time spent on the lakes and farm, Vic was active in Burlington Hockey when his sons played for many years.

Vic was a devoted husband of 58 years to his wife Lorraine (LeBlanc) Allen who passed away last year. He was the proud and loving father of Raymond Allen of Burlington & his girlfriend Kari Kynard of Amherst, MA, Robert Allen of Burlington, MA and Gilford, NH, and the late Cheryl Allen. He was the brother of the late Lester and Kenneth Allen. Vic was also survived by many in laws, nieces and nephews.
