Grace was born in New York, New York, the daughter of Armenian immigrants, the late Apkar and Avsanna Nakashian. Being a responsible and independent thinker, she chose to enlist in the military to serve her country. After her discharge she worked for 20 years in a jewelry store in the Jewelers Building in Boston. Her family settled in Watertown, a community filled with Armenian Americans. It was while living in Watertown, she continued to enjoy her culture, faith, and traditions. She also worked in the cafeteria of the Meadowbrook School and the High School in Burlington. Her last job was at the Purity supermarket working in the store’s bakery department.

Grace’s family was everything to her. She married her husband, Paul, in 1949 and shared over 60 years together. The old expression “That behind every good man, there is a Good woman.” Grace was a bit on the quiet side, but her husband Paul was extremely outgoing and the entertainer in the family. She was always supporting and encouraging him in his clubs, acting, radio announcing, standup comedy and countless other interests. She was a devoted mother to her children and was always there to support, encourage, and comfort them as only a mother can. She had a deep connection with her grandsons. She shared a home with her daughter and her family and helped raise her grandsons. It was a special gift to see her grandsons daily and watch them grow up, go to college, and become men. She was also blessed to see her family grow with the addition of 4 great grandchildren.

Grace had a number of interests. She was a talented cook and continued to cook the many Armenian Dishes that her mother taught her as a child. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She enjoyed going to socials with her husband. She always enjoyed games of chance and enjoyed going to Bingo and visiting Foxwoods Casino with family and friends. She was not much of a traveler, but enjoyed visiting Aruba with her daughter and son-in-law recently. Grace had a long and fulfilling life and she leaves her family and friends with endless memorials filled with love.
